I am very
happy to welcome you to view the Website of Sahyadri Science
College (Autonomous). This college is one of the few colleges of
Karnataka awarded the Autonomous status in the year 2006 (by UGC.
Dear
friends, it was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime
Minister of India who advocated the English language learning
with a view to open the window of the other part of the world to
the Indians. Then it was a different context. The world moved
slower than the present times. Now the whole world looks at
India through the I .T window. See how the tables are turned!
But the
complacency should stop at this level only. In this ever and
faster changing world we should keep ourselves prepared with
utmost care. The generations of 21st century have to face a real
world of formidable challenges. They have to equip themselves
with the mental, intellectual and professional capabilities to
cope up with the phenomenal changes brought out by the
information revolution and knowledge explosion. They have to
convert the challenges into opportunities only by constant up
gradation of their abilities. They should know learning is not
only a question of acquiring basic skills, reading, writing,
oral expression, Arithmetic but also gaining knowledge of the
world in which we strive to live better. Jaques Delors, the
former President of UNESCO in his document Education for 21st
century has outlined four dimensions - (1) Learning to know (2)
Learning to do (3) Learning to live together (4) Learning to be.
Let those be your goals and objectives.
With the
intention of providing high quality education, various courses
and opportunities have been offered in this college. If ever you
choose to pursue your education, you are welcome to this college
